Book Design | Brand Development & Application

After an exhaustive search and approval from the three authors of In Every Tongue: The Racial & Ethnic Diversity of the Jewish People, I selected the cover image and proceeded to dramatically alter its symbolism. Originally, the icons represented ideas from architecture, engineering, and construction. The people were all black and male. It was a challenging and fun process to remake the cover image into one that would represent the Jewish community and its cultural diversity. For a non-fiction work, the book itself presented an opportunity to create a dynamic, varied body with liberal use of photographs and other visual cues, including chapter headers, pull quotes and excel charts, and a photography section.
